Like its cousin, it is delightfully tolerant to a wide range of growing conditions.

The Spider Plant produces oxygen and purifies the air in your home and office by absorbing carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and xylene.

Often called Spider Plant but also known as Airplane Plant, St. Bernard's Lily, Spider Ivy, Ribbon Plant, Hens and Chickens.

It gets its common name from the small plantlets produced on long trailing stems that vaguely resemble spiders.

This clump-forming, perennial, herbaceous plant, native to coastal areas of South Africa, has narrow, strap-shaped leaves arising from a central point. 

Plantlets are young or small clones, produced on the leaf margins or the aerial stems of another plant.

Many plants such as spider plants naturally create stolons with plantlets on the ends as a form of asexual reproduction. 

Let's stick with the Spidey nickname for now!This beauty is considered one of the most adaptable of houseplants and the easiest to grow.

This plant can grow in a wide range of conditions and suffers from few problems, other than brown tips.

Spider plants prefer bright light and tend toward scorching in direct sunlight.

However, they will grow in conditions ranging from semi-shade to partial direct sun.

You should water them liberally through the summer and mist them occasionally.

During winter, cut watering back.

Allow the soil to dry before watering (once a week is usually enough), and dump out water that drains from the bottom of the pot.

Fertilize three to four times a year with an all-purpose liquid houseplant food during the growing season.

Skip fertilizer during the winter, or if your plant is outgrowing its pot.
