Olive trees are ancient plants.
Archeologists who have found olive pits and traces of olive oil in pottery shards estimate we’ve been cultivating them for 6,000 to 8,000 years.
The olive, known by the botanical name Olea europaea, meaning "European olive", is a species of small tree in the family Oleaceae, found traditionally in the Mediterranean Basin.
The species is cultivated in all the countries of the Mediterranean, as well as in South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
Olive trees require a well-drained soil and a sunny position.
Avoid sites where water stands during rainy periods or where groundwater would seep into a hole two feet deep.
Do not, however, confuse the olive for a desert plant.
It needs regular watering to thrive.
We do not warranty or guarantee any living plant. No returns or exchanges on live plants. All sales are final on live plants.
