Sedum is a large genus of flowering plants in the family Crassulaceae, members of which are commonly known as stonecrops.

The genus has been described as containing up to 600 species, subsequently reduced to 400–500.

They are leaf succulents found primarily in the Northern Hemisphere, but extend into the southern hemisphere in Africa and South America.

The plants vary from annual and creeping herbs to shrubs.

The plants have water-storing leaves.

The flowers usually have five petals, seldom four or six.

There are typically twice as many stamens as petals.

Various species formerly classified as Sedum are now in the segregate genera Hylotelephium and Rhodiola.

Once established, sedum plants require little care.

Sedum prefers slightly acidic sites with excellent drainage and gritty soil.

Even shallow soil, limestone, rocks, gravel, sand, dry, and hot locations pose no problem for this little plant.

Growing Sedum as a groundcover is less tolerant of foot traffic than other species, but can survive the occasional trespass.

Check your plants regularly to make sure they are not too dry and water when needed.

After flowering, cut back the plants to maintain their shape or contain them in one area.

Remember to divide your plants in the spring or fall to control their spread.

We do not warranty or guarantee any living plant. No returns or exchanges on live plants. All sales are final on live plants.
