Acer palmatum, commonly known as Red Emperor Maple, Palmate Maple, Japanese Maple or Smooth Japanese Maple, is a species of woody plant native to Japan, Korea, China, eastern Mongolia, and southeast Russia.
The main difference between Japanese Maple Bloodgood and Japanese Maple Emperor is size.
Bloodgood can reach up to 25' in height and width, while Emperor sizes usually do not exceed 20'.
Emperor tolerates hot climates better, and the red color of its leaves lasts longer.
Caring for a Bloodgood or Emperor Japanese Maple Tree is not complicated.
Besides watering the tree regularly during summer, you should also add a layer of mulch to keep the ground moist.
The use of a fertilizer is recommended, but don't overdo it.
You will not make the tree grow faster if you do!
In most areas, this stunning beauty prefers partial shade, but in cool-summer areas it can take full sun.
Japanese maples typically grow just 1'-2' per year.
That said, under the right conditions, they can live to be over one hundred years old!
We do not warranty or guarantee any living plant. No returns or exchanges on live plants. All sales are final on live plants.
