Dischidia is a genus of plants in the family Apocynaceae.

They are epiphytes native to tropical areas of China, India and most areas of Indo-China.

Dischidia are closely aligned with the sister genus Hoya.

Unlike Hoya, the genus Dischidia is poorly known and has not been studied as closely.

It gets its moniker from its leaves, which sort of look like coins.

Dischidias are uncommon, exotic, but easy-to-grow houseplants.

Most varieties trail, making them wonderful choices for hanging baskets

If you're looking for a no-fuss plant to hang in your window or near your desk, String of Nickels is for you.

Dischidia species prefer a humid and well-ventilated location with at least half a day's exposure to filtered sunlight.

They can tolerate a couple of hours of direct sunlight, but plants must be well-watered under such conditions.

Avoid growing them in an overly windy place, as the plants will dry out very quickly.

Too much water in the planting medium will cause the delicate roots of this plant to rot, so water only about every two or three days.

To be safe, let the planting medium dry out slightly between each watering.

Dischidia is a fairly slow-growing plant, so fertilizing will be very useful to accelerate its development.

Ideally, use a green plant fertilizer during spring and summer and let it rest in winter.

You can use a diluted fertilizer along with the water to ensure the nutrients in the compost reach the roots of the plant.

We do not warranty or guarantee any living plant. No returns or exchanges on live plants. All sales are final on live plants
