An attractive hedge plant, with silvery white margins on glossy green leaves that adds unique color and texture to the landscape.

Can be grouped to form a low screen.

Highly adaptable, tolerates poor, lean soils and heat.

An excellent topiary specimen for the landscape or containers. 

This is an evergreen.

Moderate growing, reaching heights of 6' tall, 3' wide in natural form.

An excellent light colored background to show off plants of unique color and form. 

Ideal contrast when intermixed with solid color evergreen hedges, cones and espalier.

Makes a super espalier, and can be purchased in pre-sheared topiary forms for containers, or for European inspired formal evergreen gardens.

Easy to grow in average, well-drained soils.

Best with full sun in humid climates, and afternoon shade in extremely hot climates.

Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system.

Reduce frequency once established.

Fertilize in early spring.

Prune regularly to maintain shape as a topiary.

Pruning time is in spring, after flowering.

Provide partial to full sun. 

Euonymus is native to Eastern Asia including the Himalayas, but can be found in Europe, Australia, North America and Madagascar.

E. japonica is native to Japan, Korea and China.

The berries are a valuable food source to birds, but all parts of this plant are poisonous to humans.

Euonymus is commonly called Japanese spindle, due to the use of its hardwood in making spindles for spinning wool!
