Desert Rose 'Adenium obesum' 2"

Desert Rose 'Adenium obesum' 2"

Adenium obesum is a species of flowering plant in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae, that is native to the Sahel regions, south of the Sahara, and tropical and subtropical eastern and southern Africa and Arabia.

Common names include Sabi star, kudu, mock azalea, impala lily and desert rose.

Keep soil moderately moist in spring and summer, but reduce watering in fall and especially winter when the plant is dormant.

Fertilize with a dilution by half of a 20-20-20 liquid plant food once per month when the plant is actively growing. Do not feed the desert rose during winter!

When grown indoors, a desert rose can reach 2'-5' tall and 1'-3' wide!

Desert rose plants have beautiful flowers and sparse small leaves. The 1″-2″ saucer shaped blooms are quite stunning and can be red, pink, or white. The fat, bulbous trunk is partially or completely buried in the soil.

The Desert Rose is also referred to as the Sand Rose, Selenite Rose or Gypsum Rose.

Found in dry, desert regions, each one is said to contain a unique spirit guardian.

Desert Roses have traditionally been used as talismans for protection, overcoming phobias and to help boost self confidence.
