While growing, cacti and succulents should be watered at least once a week.

Some cactus devotees water more often than this.

During each watering, give the soil a good soaking, so that water runs out of the 'drainage holes' of the pots.

Place plants as close as possible to the window and provide good air circulation.

Rotate them once a month to ensure even light.

With indoor cacti, it's better to under-water, about once a month.

Overwatering is not an option.

A cactus can survive without water for many, many months, but rot is an instant killer.
