This succulent forms rosettes of fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves that are brilliantly colored.
The leaves in the center are pale yellow, and progressively the leaves get greener to the outside of the rosette.
The edges of the leaves are red.
Yellow flowers bloom in the summer.
This is one of those rare succulents that are actually dormant during the summer.
Instead, most of its growth occurs during the winter when conditions are a bit less harsh.
While it can survive outside in summers that are not overly hot and humid, it will appreciate being indoors during that season.
Although they will tolerate partial shade, these beauties need at least six hours of full sun a day to develop their leaf colors.
Indoors in pots, Aeoniums need bright sunlight and moisture, and do best in shallow containers.
Aeoniums are monocarpic.
This means that once the plant flowers, it will die.
However, it takes several years for a plant to flower and not all of the rosettes flower at the same time.
Kiwi aeonium will grow to about 6" wide and 18" tall.
If you suspect your Aeonium kiwi is not in good health or could be dying, there are 3 possible causes:
Overwatering, lack of sun exposure, and pest infestation.
You should only water your Aeoniums when the top layer of soil feels pretty dry.
You'll probably end up watering them about once a week.
During the summer months, when they're dormant, you should cut back on the water.
Watering them once a month should be enough during the summer.
